It was a wonderful piece of vampire lore. The passing of time in which Walter's love for Brunhilda changes was excellently written. I really enjoyed reading this. The ending was the best part of it in my opinion. To have his thrid wife turn into a serpent and crush him in their wedding bed was unexpected. The word choice fo the entire work really lent itself to creating the sense of dread. "Wake not the dead" is an eerie line and is perfect for this.
